The Mona Lisa

On April 15, 1452, in Vinci, Italy, Leonardo da Vinci was born. He was the perfect replica of a Renaissance/ Polymath man. Da Vinci had a curious mind and keen intellect, with that da Vinci studied the laws of science and nature. That greatly informed his work as a painter, sculptor, architect, inventor, military engineer and draftsman. His ideas and body of work which includes Mona Lisa have influenced countless artists and have made da Vinci a leading light of the Italian Renaissance.

Da Vinci was in Milan until the city was invaded by the French in 1499 and the Sforza family were forced to flee. He may have visited Venice before returning to Florence. During his time in Florence, he painted several portraits, but the only one that survived is the famous Mona Lisa
